Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board has a core of noncombustible; dimensionally stable gypsum rock sandwiched between a face layer of 100% recycled blue/gray colored paper and a brown back paper. The face paper is designed to absorb moisture and allow plaster products to adhere to the surface yet protect the core/paper bond. The face paper is formed along each long edge, and wrapped and sealed to the paper on the backside. This produces a strong yet flexible panel in convenient width and lengths. Even though Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board have some inherent fire resistant characteristics it is not intended for use in assemblies requiring a fire rating.
Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board can be used for most walls, partitions and ceilings in both new commercial and residential construction and remodelling work. Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board is an excellent barrier to the transmission of noise and thermal energies but must be installed in the proper thickness and methods that has been tested to achieve the desired rating as per Standard Specification for Application and Finishing of Gypsum Board, ASTM C 840, non rated construction.
Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board is manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM C 1396 and CAN/CSA A82.27.

Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board can be applied to wood framing with drywall nails or Type W screws and with special adhesives in combination with supplemental fasteners. The Veneer Board may also be applied to light gauge metal framing with self-tapping Type S screws. The application must conform to ASTM C 844, Application of Gypsum Base to Receive Gypsum Veneer Plaster. The board can be cut to size using the standard score and snap method to create tight fitting joints. In cold weather or during joint finishing, temperatures within the range of 50o to 95oF (10o to 35oC) and with sufficient ventilation to carry off excess moisture.
Cabot Gypsum Veneer Board comes from the factory ready-to-use, the plaster products are by others. Both the veneer plaster manufacturer's recommendations and those of ASTM C 843, Application of Gypsum Veneer Plaster must be adhered to.
